Comforting Reminders from Song Lyrics
Early this morning, I felt like I wasted my time writing a story for a scammer. There I was, praising God for this opportunity that turned out to be fake. What a disappointment.
For a few minutes, it was easy to blame God for opening a door that seemed to lead nowhere. But then I heard this little voice that said to “have hope.” Suddenly, I remembered song lyrics that reminded me of the true nature of God. Here are a few of them.
In every moment, in every season, your fingerprints are on my life.
There’s no denying, forever finding your fingerprints are on my life.
(“Fingerprints” by DAMIAN)
DAMIAN’s lyrics remind me of Romans 8:28 — “And we know that God causes all things to work together for the good of those who love Him…”
Here are some more lyrics. Some of them might sound generic, but they are the truth.
We can trust our God. He knows what He’s doing. Though it might hurt now, we won’t be ruined.
It might seem there’s an ocean in between. But He’s holding on to you and me. And He’s never gonna leave.
(“He Is With Us” by Love and the Outcome)
This is such a great reminder of Jeremiah 29:11- “’ For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
God knows far more than I ever will. While my plans did not work out this time, I will not lose trust in God’s plans.
Here are some lyrics that empower me to keep going.
I found your goodness through pain, found your mercy down upon my knees. I’ve learned when life goes sideways, you still got me where I need to be.
(“The Story’s Not Over” by Jeremy Camp)
I never publicized this online, but a few years ago, I lost a writing job. I wasn’t able to research and write the stories fast enough to meet quotas. Being my first full-time writing job, I put everything I had into it, including my identity. So losing the job was soul-crushing.
